Every day, across the globe, vital information on sex education faces attempts at suppression, being labelled as 'taboo' or 'inappropriate.' Whether it's in classrooms, on social media platforms, or even within the film and entertainment industry, this essential dialogue is often muted or side-lined. This needs to change, NOW. 

Take, for instance, the Indian film, "OMG 2", which premiered on the eve of World Youth Day on August 11. This film isn't just a narrative – it's a reflection of a society grappling with taboos around sex education. Yet, in an ironic twist, instead of being celebrated, it has been slapped with an 'Adults Only' rating in India. Through its storyline of societal norms, spirituality, and the urgency of sex education, "OMG 2" not only underscores the importance of open dialogue but becomes a poignant example of the very obstacles we aim to overcome.

Thus, we call for the initiation and endorsement of a petition requesting a UA certificate for OMG 2. The potential negative outcomes of censoring a film that underscores the significance of sex education are more severe than those of openly depicting it, which is the need of the hour - to openly talk about sex education with our peers, family members and loved ones.

Our Demand
By promoting a comprehensive and open dialogue around sex education, we tackle critical issues like misinformation, sexual health risks, and societal taboos. But the world seems to be moving backwards, censoring vital information when it's needed the most. 

We call upon India’s censor board, regulators, policymakers, educators, and media platforms globally to: 

1. Request a U/A certificate for OMG 2.

2. Stop the censorship of sex education across all formats.

3. Promote comprehensive and inclusive sex education as an essential part of the curriculum and public dialogue.

4. Recognize and address the misinformation, myths, and taboos surrounding sex education, instead of perpetuating them.

We urge regulatory bodies and audiences to recognize the transformative power of entertainment and films such as "OMG 2". Let us not stifle its message; instead, let's amplify its call for understanding, dialogue, and education. This is a film that the world needs and its voice must not be muted.
