Let students play!
The Issue
OSHAA rule 4-7-2 – Transfer Bylaw Review is a standard that should be changed! The pandemic has stripped students and student-athletes of many memorable moments of high school. In addition to the unprecedented school year students are experiencing, several student-athletes have been denied the opportunity to complete their respective sports due to OSHAA rules regarding transfer students. OSHAA transfer rules needs to be changed to treat transfer athletes as any other transfer student who participates in public school-sponsored activities. When a band (or any student participating in a school-sponsored activity) student transfer to a new district, they are not required to adhere to any additional standards to participate in their new district band.
Students athletes are students first and should be granted the same privileges (as every other student enjoys) to participate in school-sponsored activities!
West Carrollton senior transfer, Allen Lattimore, is one of several student-athletes being harmed by OSHAA rule 4-7-2. Throughout the adversity, Allen has remained optimistic and shown himself to be a true leader on and off the court! Allen was penalized by a portion of the transfer that is subjective in practice. Dispute this transfer rule being the hardest to overcome, Allen produced all the required documents. OSHAA still deem Allen as an ineligible due to barely exceeding the financial requirements of the standard.
All the individuals who support this petition demand that OSHAA immediately invalidates the Bylaw 4-7-2 Transfer and deem all transfer student-athletes eligible to participate in the 2020-2021 seasons!
Join us in our fight to get student athletes like Allen Lattimore back into their athletic programs!
