Jack Sparks started this petition to Ohio State Senate

Seth Eklund, a well-trained security officer at an Ohio IRS office, was on duty when a man in police uniform entered, with a gun. The man, Alan Gaston (pictured), was not there on official business; he was on personal business, so was subject to the rules of the building. He was also expected to abide by the law, which states:

'No person shall knowingly cause another to believe that the offender will cause serious physical harm to the person or property of the other person, the other person’s unborn, or a member of the other person’s immediate family.'

By entering a building with a gun, Alan Gaston, a Sheriff's Deputy, was knowingly causing Seth and others to believe that Alan would cause harm. To make matters worse, when Seth asked Alan to put his weapons in the car, Alan, who did not even prove he was a police officer (numerous people have bought police uniforms and badges and pretended to be police officers), Alan refused to comply. This is just as disgraceful as walking into someone's house without a warrant, carrying a gun, when guns are not allowed in that house.

By his actions, Alan Gaston knowingly caused Seth Eklund to believe that Alan was a threat. Seth therefore did his job, as he would with any other member of the public carrying a weapon and refusing to comply, and drew his gun on Alan. A member of the public was so worried about Alan Gaston's behaviour that, even though he is a police officer, they called 911 on him.

Alan Gaston, predictably, is trying to make this issue about race in order to take the focus away from his wrongful actions. He claimed he "saw hate" in Seth's eyes, but none of the body camera footage supports such a claim. Alan has been using the tag #BlackLivesMatter (ironically, as the tag began in relation to police officers shooting black people) - even though Seth Eklund did not harm him in any way.

The cops then committed an illegal arrest on Seth, as they always support their colleagues even when they murder people. Instead, Alan Gaston should be arrested for aggravated menacing. The judge did not accept the charges against Seth Eklund, but Alan Gaston needs to be arrested and charged. He should not get away with his crime simply because he is a police officer or because he is black and currently trying to use his race to his advantage. Race is irrelevant here - Alan Gaston behaved in a threatening manner, and Seth Eklund responded as he was trained to do in order to protect staff and employees in the IRS Building. Unsurprisingly, all police body camera footage has been edited. The raw video is not available anywhere. But even without it, it is obvious Alan Gaston is a liar.
