I made this petition to encourage Ohio’s elected leaders to honor the wishes of Ohio’s voters to end gerrymandering by drawing Congressional Districts that are COMPACT, keep COMMUNITIES together, and are COMPETITIVE, to the greatest extent possible. Ohioans love competition.  From our professional, college and high school sport teams, to our high school band and music competitions, to our county fair Blue Ribbon and Best in Show awards, OHIOANS LOVE COMPETITION! Yet due to a long history of gerrymandering, Ohio's Congressional Districts are some of the least competitive and "safest" for incumbent representatives in the United States. In the past decade, Ohioans of all stripes voted twice, in overwhelming numbers, to end the practice of gerrymandering in Ohio, but it is still up to Ohio's elected officials to get the job done and draw new competitive legislative districts.

As new congressional district boundaries are drawn this summer by Ohio's elected leaders - this petition requests that Ohio's elected representatives to the U.S. House of Representatives renounce the practice of gerrymandering and issue public statements demanding Ohio's congressional map makers honor the wishes of Ohio’s voters and draw new Congressional Districts that are COMPACT, keep COMMUNITIES together, and are COMPETITIVE, to the greatest extent possible. Ohioans love competition - our elected officials should love to compete, too!
