The Issue

The beauty industry has been hit the hardest with the COVID-19 shutdown in Ohio.Since March 16,2020 hairstylists and barbers have been denied the opportunity to services their customers  and provide for their families.These small business owners have suffered the most in the Corona Virus crisis.Due to the lack of filing taxes with prevents them from being eligible for unemployment benefits and small business loans.On April 1 , Mr.Ronald C. Todd II ,Minority Affairs Liaison for Governor Mike Dewine was notified by email about the concerns of the hairstylists and barbers in District 21;regarding being listed as an Essential service provider during the stay at home order .Since,hairstylist and barber are licensed professionals under the Board of Cosmetology and required by law to participate in continuing education courses to maintain license.There was a suggested 10-point guidelines to reopen beauty salon and barbershops during this crisis submitted. On April 20th,salon owners,barbershop owners and community leaders from Cuyahoga,Lake and Summit counties met and signed a Pledge guaranteeing  Corona Virus-Free practices in the beauty industry.On this same day Lt. Governor Jon Husted was emailed with documentation proving that beauty salon and barbershop can be Corona Virus - Free environments.The goal of this petition is to persuade Governor Dewine to reopen beauty salon and barbershops in Phase 1 or Phase 2 of his reopening Ohio plan.Since, there are many licensed professionals in the beauty industry experiencing economic disparities that could end their careers in the industry due to stay at home order.So ,please sign this petition if you believe Ohio can be Great again in a COVID -19 free environment related to the beauty industry.
