The Oneonta Men's and Women's club soccer is not funded or recognized, it creates a very limited and discouraging experience for many. Students continuously join the club in hopes to continue their playing careers without diverting serious time from their studies. Once on the team they realize the only thing holding the club back from what the participants want it to be or what it could be is official recognition and funding. This leads to us not being able to play home games, some schools are not willing to play us and students who have very little money as is are forced to pay for essential equipment and apparel. This is a problem unique only to Oneonta, several schools have a thriving club program; it is so noteworthy the relationships built during it extend through post college. This is something me and many others want to see for Oneonta.
