As a campus community, we value ethical responsibility and intellectual honesty. Inviting Sinclair Broadcast Group to recruit on our campus undermines those values. A college job fair is not only about employment but also a reflection of the values IC chooses to platform. Sinclair promotes a heavily politically biased and censored media agenda and is a vulture capitalist company that is not for the people but exclusively for profit. They do not care about journalism other than when trying to push their political biases into every news source they own, which is more than a third of the country’s local TV stations. Providing Sinclair with access to recruit on campus signals an endorsement of a company that does not stand for what we believe in here at IC. As an institution, we value “Academic Excellence, Respect and Accountability, Innovation, Sustainability, and Equity,” none of which are displayed by Sinclair Broadcast Group. We ask you to join us in standing up for our campus values by signing this petition to oppose misrepresentation on our campus.
