The summer heat is nothing to mess around with if you are like me. The Leash Only ordinance is in effect April 1-July 31, eliminating the offleash hours in Mayor Baxter Woods when we need the cool shade of the urban forest the most.  

With this offleash ban, the MBW dog walkers are made to be outlaws, and issued $75 tickets (like my 87 year-old friend walking her service dog) or exiled to shaded locations further away.  I started this petition for  them.

We know there will always be some people who don’t like dogs, or think they should always be leashed. We simply ask that they SHARE the neighborhood woods we love so dearly and allow us a few offleash hours to exercise our pets in safety.
