Oconto Falls School District Give your A+ Student Council President a fighting chance

The Issue

Hello, My husband and myself, Jason and Jessica Pecha are reaching out to the community but more so ALL MEMBERS of the OCONTO FALLS SCHOOL BOARD as a last ditch effort to advocate for our daughter.

Joslyn Pecha is a 8th grade student at Washington Middle School. For the past three years she has been asked by the district to tutor middle and high school students due to her exemplary grades and has. Even during the main part of the pandemic. Joslyn has had a GPA giving her the equivalent of high honors 14 of 15 quints. The one EXCEPTION was due to a SERIOUS LONG TERM EXCUSED ILLNESS that prevented her from doing work in any form and the inability to make up missed work and reviews, which she is 100% willing to do. This is very important for Joslyn and we do not want to ruin her enthusiasm for school. We attempted to discuss this with the only avenue given to us, the Assistant Principal. They are fighting excused absences even with signed doctor's notes and not allowing her to make up work per their own bylaws as clearly stated in the student handbook.

Joslyn has achieved Artist of the month many times, is in advanced classes, made the National Spelling Bee, has been placed in the SWARM (a special recognition given to those who go above and beyond) on several occasions, was voted and currently holds the title of Student Council President, currently is in a UW writing contest! This is so important to her. The school has stopped emailing and all contact with us. Joslyn's name deserves to be called at graduation for high honors and her hard work and achievements recognized. If you have any questions or need any proof of what is written above please feel free to message or call us 920-264-3631. The6Pechas@hotmail.com

We are only asking for what our daughter is entitled to per what the Oconto Falls School District promises in their handbook and what the Wisconsin state statue 118.16 (4) (B) mandates. Thank you for listening.
