Obstetrics Specialty Pay 28.06 Support

The Issue

Last round of bargaining, only a few groups were chosen for specialty pay in article 28.06 "OR/PAR/ER/ICU/CCU" Premium. They stated all specialty, hard to fill units couldn't be included, but ratifying the contract would open the door for the next bargaining round to be more inclusive of specialty units. The obstetrical birthing unit, requires a specialty course, practicum, and up to 2 years of additional training for high risk obstetrics. It utilizes field specific skills: triages like ER, sterile delivery set-ups like OR, and contains a vast amount of specialty trained procedures, including 1:1 monitoring similar to ICU for both mothers and their babies, simultaneously. These jobs are difficult to fill, short staffed and continually supported by agency and BCNU travel nurses to fill the empty lines.

Please sign below only if you are a BCNU Nurse to show solidarity and support for those in these units to be recognized in the next round of bargaining, be it this year or in three years from now. Let's open the door for this unit and other well deserving specialty units to receive this pay.
