Objection to the proposed development of 500 homes in Maylandsea
The Issue
The proposed development of 500 houses in Maylandsea is raising significant concerns within our community. As a resident deeply invested in the well-being of this area, I must highlight the critical issues we are already facing. Our public amenities are severely overstretched. We lack adequate school places, with many of our local children having to travel long distances for their education. Doctors' surgeries and dental practices are at capacity, making it difficult for residents to secure timely appointments. Additionally, the nearest hospital is over 20 miles away, further stressing the need for properly supported local healthcare facilities.
Furthermore, our public transport system is inadequate, leaving many residents isolated and struggling to access essential services.
Adding 500 more houses without addressing these existing problems will put an unbearable strain on our already struggling infrastructure. Traffic congestion at peak times is currently ludicrous without around 1000 more cars on the roads which themselves will crumble still further. The already over-capacity water treatment facility will be overwhelmed completely. Flooding is commonplace now, but will be worsened by the addition of yet more housing.
Instead of approving this development, we urge the local authorities to invest in enhancing our community’s current amenities and transport systems to better support the residents already living here.
To preserve our community and ensure a sustainable future for Maylandsea, please sign this petition to oppose the development.
