On 11/06/22 a notice was placed in the premises at 868 Washwood Heath Road, currently known as AK Supermarket, soon to be known as Anna Store stating an application has been submitted for an off license to be operated in the premises. 

We, the community, object to this application on the basis we do not believe the 4 main licensing objectives will be upheld, namely, 

1) the prevention of crime and disorder
2) public safety
3) the prevention of public nuisance
4) the protection of children from harm

By allowing an off license to operate, crime and disorder WILL increase, public safety is already jeopardised in the area, it will definitely increase public nuisance, and children are already at harm in the area. 

The area is already a hot spot for anti social behaviour and there is already a public space protection order in place. 

Public nuisance has become the norm in the area including street parties, open drug use, alcohol use with gangs of men and children as young as 11 gathered up in all hours of the day shouting abuse and attacking  anybody who questions them. If this license is granted this will further encourage this behaviour. 

Children are already at harm with heroin needles and crack pipes casually around the outside of the premises and the surrounding area, children as young as 11 are already seen with gangs of older men using balloon canisters, smoking cannabis and other drugs as well as drinking alcohol right outside the premises hence the PSPO in place - By granting this license, children will become more exposed to alcohol and are at an increased risk. 

868 Washwood Heath Road is in close proximity to several educational establishments for children

• Sultan Bahu Education  Centre
• Black Widow Martial Arts Academy 
• CES Tuition Centre 
• Washwood Heath Academy 

There is already an off license 0.2 miles away

The Fox & Goose Pub is 0.1 mile away.       

The Hornet is 0.2 miles away

All of which are a 1-2 minute walk away from 868 Washwood Heath Road.

We do not need anymore licensed premises in the area as the ones we already do have, have created chaos for residents and increased anti social behaviour. 

This off license will bring no benefit to our community and will only further increase the issues we have been facing for years and has worsened over the years. 

We OBJECT to this application and request the licensing authority to reject this application.
