The Issue
Our beloved community of Loresho, cherished for its calm and serene atmosphere, is facing a significant threat to its very essence. The parcels of land, Nrb/Blk 95/401 and Nrb/Blk 95/402, situated off Loresho Ridge, are at the center of a proposed change that could irreversibly alter the fabric of our neighbourhood. The proposal to amalgamate these parcels and shift their designated use from residential to a commercial street mall is not only a departure from the original zoning plans but also a disruption to our peaceful way of life.
Loresho has long been recognized for its tranquil environment, which is home to many retired senior citizens who moved here specifically to enjoy a quiet and undisturbed retirement. The zoning of this area has always been for single dwelling residential homes, a decision that aligns with the desires of our community to maintain the peaceful ambiance that we all hold dear.
Transforming these parcels into commercial land for a street mall would not only bring increased traffic but also introduce noise and pollution levels that are incongruous with the needs and lifestyles of our residents. The character of our neighborhood would be irrevocably altered, leading to a loss of the very tranquility that defines Loresho.
Moreover, the local infrastructure is not designed to accommodate the demands of a commercial hub. Increased traffic congestion, risks to pedestrian safety, and environmental concerns are just a few of the potential issues surrounding the development of a street mall in this residential zone.
Our community's welfare and the integrity of our residential environment must be our paramount concern. We urge the relevant authorities to respect the original zoning decisions and reject any proposals that seek to change the land use from residential to commercial. The priorities of development should align with community well-being and environmental sustainability, not short-term economic gains.
Stand with us in preserving the integrity and tranquility of Loresho. Help us send a strong message to decision-makers that our community’s voice deserves to be heard and respected. Sign this petition to protect Loresho's residential zoning and keep our neighborhood the sanctuary it has always been.
