Object to 50 Houses at Stocksmoor Under Planning Application 2024/62/91242/E

The Issue

We are residents of a hamlet near Huddersfield where a site is subject to a planning application for the construction of 50 houses, a proposal captured under the reference number 2024/62/91242/E. This development will not only change the face of our community, it threatens our local environment, specifically the ancient woodland adjacent to the proposed construction site. More than just trees, this woodland is an ecosystem playing host to a diversity of flora and fauna, and a geologically significant stream bed.

Our hamlet simply lacks the capacity to bear the weight of such an influx in households. Our infrastructure in the neighbouring villages is already stretched to its limits, will be overwhelmed under the resultant pressure. Furthermore, the expected increase in traffic is a safety concern that cannot be overlooked - road safety is a non-negotiable. The location of our hamlet is not conducive to such developments, it is not sustainable.

The safeguards instituted under Local Plans are designed to protect from such developments, yet it seems these protections are being prematurely disregarded prior to the next local plan review. We strongly object to this planning application and the premature release of safeguarded sites designated under local plans. This is not just about our community, it is a struggle for common sense planning, respect of local environments and a stand against undue haste that disregards due process.

We are not the only settlement which is subject to the build any houses anywhere on the greenbelt which is ravaging the British countryside.

Please, lend your voice to ours and stand with us. Sign the petition against the planning application for 50 Houses at Stocksmoor under reference 2024/62/91242/E.
