The Issue

4chan is a wonderful place for people of all ages have the opportunity to meet new friends and share funny memes (the trollman, the conspiracy guy, no you face, and many others) with others.

It is peaceful site with no serious mal-intent against it's users - or really anyone else for that matter. Since I joined in the summer of 2014, the website community has evolved from "teenage hang out" to "activist central." Of course, this isn't all that it is used for. Personally, I use 4chan to spread awareness about systematic oppression and other important world topics, but other users share images and speculation on MLP, Homestuck, and other fandoms. 4chan is also known for it's very following of friendly participants making sure to include those with mental illnesses - our main goal as a community is to make sure they feel welcomed and loved. Because of the sites docile nature, as well as many other reasonings, 4chan has been viciously targeted by various sites including Tumblr.

Unfortunately for my fellow bloggers and I, a website known as Tumblr.com has staged an attack against 4chan's users.  I have seen many of my friends post that they have been triggered because of this attack, and I'm growing increasingly worried for my friends. 4chan works off of a "posting" system, similar to Instagram and Twitter, etc. What is happening is that Tumblr users are placing triggering images into posts. This is causing site-wide panic and frustration. All 4chan has asked for is a safe place to share information and feelings about certain topics, and yet we have been attacked in a very serious and harmful way. All we want is to feel safe and loved in a welcoming community, however many bloggers of Tumblr obviously do not want to allow us of this.

4chan users are quite resourceful, though. As a strong community, we have taken the necessary precautions and "counter raided" our own posts to prevent our friends from being harmed by the sociopathic Tumblr users. However, this seems to be in vain as Tumblr users are planning to ruthlessly raid our site and post disturbing images - from gore to pictures of our beloved administrator Moot photomanipulated onto pornography. It is vital that this attack does not proceed. This could potentially ruin the lives of many people.

To the government organizations I have listed, please research internet users that have visited Tumblr and posted triggering images onto 4chan.org. Doing so will ensure the safety of the millions of 4chan users with this troubling event.
