THOUSANDS of you have asked "HOW CAN I HELP??" - Well, here you go! The Conservation Foundation and the Sierra Club have now submitted their application to destroy the dam, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The initial hearing will be THIS WEDNESDAY, JULY 27. PLEASE SEND YOUR COMMENTS and register your objection to the address that follows. It doesn't need to be long and involved - but PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO LET THEM KNOW THAT DESTRUCTION OF THIS HISTORIC DAM WILL ACCOMPLISH NOTHING!!!! The only thing that will happen is whatever silt, etc. that has built up behind the dam will now be washed directly into Cook County, towards Brookfield Zoo and on into the DesPlaines River - and this important part of history will be GONE!!Erich.M.Ceisel@usace.army.mil
