As you may already know, details of middle school admissions were posted for 20 minutes on Thu, Apr-29, 2021 on the MySchools website.

Some parents saw the postings but many more couldn’t. Further, many parents received a communication from the DOE that the letters are valid, and many more didn’t.

This is particularly cruel for parents who were not able to check their results and who couldn’t get the confirmation of what they saw.

There is anyway stress for all families at this stage of their children's life waiting for the middle school admission decisions as kids are about to be separated from the schools they have attended for their entire educational life, where they have friends and relationships. The stress of parents who need to figure out transportation and schedules.

All this in the year when there is unprecedented stress – COVID, School Closing/Reopening, Remote/ Blended Learning, Lottery-based admissions, and so on.

It seems incomprehensible that the DOE is not releasing these letters when they are clearly ready to be released.

For all these reasons, and simple decency to support overworked, over-stressed parents who already were forced to deal with a complicated and time-consuming application process.
