We the undersigned fully endorse and support Meg Ryan continuing to serve as NUMC general counsel. We support Meg Ryan as General Counsel and an amazing, hardworking leader of NUMC.  We know how dedicated she is to this hospital, its staff and patients. Meg goes above and beyond the call of duty, taking time away from her children, working weekends and particularly during the pandemic, doing all she can to ensure this hospital and nursing home meets the needs of patients. Meg was even honored last December for her hard work and dedication at NUMC’s gala. This effort to remove her without cause, evidence or due process is shocking and is driven by the worst kind of politics – that which puts the healthcare of this community behind titles and personal power. 

We demand the members of the NHCC Board of Directors who are clearly putting party politics and personal agendas above the needs and interests of the hospital to stop jeopardizing the future of this institution. Never before have we seen Board members leak confidential personnel information to the media. Never before have we seen the reputation of a valued member of our hospital community smeared like this.  It’s a disgrace.

We, the people of Nassau County, demand Meg stays, and the board stops it’s shameful behavior and focuses on fixing the hospital.

Board members who are engaging in this type of behavior should be ashamed of themselves. We hope that they will support the important changes being contemplated by the new Board leadership and Dr. Boutin. If they are unwilling to fulfill their fiduciary obligations to act in NHCC’s best interest and allow the hospital to fulfill its mission to serve and provide the best healthcare to all in our community they should resign, allowing others to lead.
