Brings to attention the uncertain future of Caloola Road Reserve in Constitution Hill. This parcel of land is currently owned by Sydney Water, however they are looking to sell it off, as it is now surplus to their operational requirements.

The Reserve holds historical significance as the hill where Irish rebels gathered in March 1804 as they waited the signal from Parramatta to attack. The signal never came and they ended up retreating to Castle Hill and ultimately the Battle of Vinegar Hill. Along with the historical significance, the Reserve holds great importance to the local community as a recreational space that is used daily by residents, their children and pets. As the area becomes increasingly developed, these few remaining green open spaces must be protected.

As residents we have already once delayed the sale of Caloola Road Reserve through petition and campaigning; however the future of this historically significant community space remains under threat.
 
The undersigned petitioners therefore urge the Decision Makers to Save Caloola Road Reserveand ensure this historical parcel of land be preserved as a green, public space and not sold off to developers, now or at any stage in the future.
