WE NEED YOU TO WRITE AN EMAIL TODAY

As most people now know, the department of Planning Industry and Environment released a letter regarding the proposed West Culburra development. The letter is cryptic in terms of what it actually means and we have been approached by many in the community for clarification.

After taking legal advice, it now appears that the decision about the controversial West Culburra Development will be resolved by the Independent Planning Commission with the developer behind closed doors, rather than referring it to a full Court to hear the evidence in an open and transparent way.

They can allow West Culburra to go ahead subject to “conditions” without revealing what those conditions are or taking any meaningful input from the Culburra community that will be affected by it. This is outrageous! After years of opposing this development, the IPC have inexplicably decided to make an agreement with Sealark.

We urge everyone who is concerned about this matter to WRITE AN EMAIL to: legalservices@planning.nsw.gov.au before the Wednesday 27th Oct DEADLINE. Tell them how you feel about the way this matter is now being handled.
The Community needs transparency in the judicial process.
We need to be told the details of any expert advice that the IPC has taken that has led to their decision to let West Culburra Development go ahead.

We need to know what “conditions” will be imposed on Sealark - especially with regard to pollution of our waterways, destruction of wildlife habitat and preservation of Aboriginal cultural heritage.

We need adequate time to respond to any new information provided to the IPC by Sealark.

We want the case to be heard in an open Court and NOT decided by the Independent Planning Commission behind closed doors.

We will continue to seek information and obtain legal advice and keep you updated. But time is running out. Write an email TODAY and make sure your voice is heard. Culburra residents will not be ignored!
