Now, stop recruiting our kids

You say you love them, stop recruiting our children. A little-known provision of the No Child Left Behind Act, Section 9528, gives military recruiters access to personal information about students in any high school accepting federal funds. This has enabled recruiters to contact children under 18 to persuade them to join the Army and other branches of the military serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over 6,000 soldiers have already been killed and over 40,000 have been seriously wounded since these wars began. Parents of teenagers can opt out of the program, but most parents don't find this out until it's too late. Recruiters often promise kids benefits that they never see after they have enlisted. It is time to end these deceptive practices. So, when No Child Left Behind is revised, Section 9528 should be left out; as well as other changes made- and it fully funded.
