Parents Educators Residents for Integrity on NUSD 7-11 Committee!

Parents Educators Residents for Integrity on NUSD 7-11 Committee!

The Issue

We, the undersigned petitioners – parents, volunteers, advocates, educators, and residents – are urging the board not to approve the appointment of Tina McMillan to the NUSD 7-11 committee.

Ms. McMillan coordinated an attack last year against Measure A, a crucial funding measure that our district desperately needed to renew in order to retain and attract top teachers, protect the quality of our kids’ education, and support music, art, and athletic programs. Her campaign against NUSD funding was filled with disinformation and misleading claims about NUSD’s financial situation. Her attacks ultimately led to Measure A failing, which deprived our schools of resources needed to provide our children with high quality education.

Ms. McMillan has spent months publicly speaking ill of our school district. In fact, she does not have a child in Novato schools, nor is she familiar with NUSD’s unique situation, though she claims to be a subject matter expert. Any expertise she might have is unrelated to education or finance.

Her actions have cost our kids valuable and much-needed educational resources, and she is now being rewarded with a spot on a committee that is tasked with making important decisions about the future of our district and the potential closing of one of our schools. She has publicly said the district should close a school, which goes against the non-biased mission of this committee.

Ms. McMillan has a history of divisiveness and obstructionism in the City of Novato, and she has now set her sights on our kids’ education. Please do not give someone who has attacked our district a platform to cause further damage.
