Sean Taylor started this petition to Nottingham and

Horse riding schools across the country provide an exercise for all ages and disabilities.   Outside in an open area providing not only physical exercise, but also a mental wellness for those that suffer from mental health.

Riding schools already enforce a natural 2m distance when riding, and have space for people to be distanced from each other and not contributing to the current pandemic.

As an instructor I have personally seen people’s attitude and health problems improve during the last lockdown, and a sudden decrease with the upcoming second lockdown.  Whilst understanding the issues we face in the U.K. I don’t understand why riding schools need to shut, and here’s why.

An average Riding School ménage is 30m x 40m totalling 1,200 square meters with a boundary fence.  If one person needs 2 square meters of space and we stick to the rule of no more than 6 people - then each person would have around 200 square meters of space during a riding lesson.

Outside of the schooling area there is sufficient space for a single parent/observer to stand whist maintaining the required distance even at a minimum of 5 metres.

This isn’t just for the people, but also for the health and benefit of the horses who need the exercise to stay in shape.

My ask is to sign this petition and to receive enough visibility to be seen in government.
