Remove the Islamic symbol from the Iranian flag.

This is a direct rejection of the regime’s false normality and its attempt to masquerade as Iran itself.  
It does not replace the revolution — it denies legitimacy to a regime that survives by occupying symbols, erasing identity, and forcing the world to accept its rule as inevitable. 

We call on all social media platforms, smartphone manufacturers, and keyboard developers to stop normalizing authoritarian rule through national symbols.

The Iranian flag currently used across digital platforms does not represent the Iranian people — it represents an imposed theocratic regime.

Symbols are never neutral. The flag of a nation should reflect its people’s identity and aspirations, not the ideology of those who rule by force. The historic Lion and Sun emblem is deeply rooted in Iran’s cultural heritage and national consciousness. It stands for continuity, dignity, and the enduring demand for freedom and progress.

For millions of Iranians, both inside the country and throughout the diaspora, the current flag bearing the Islamic Republic’s emblem is a reminder of repression, censorship, torture, and the suppression of basic liberties. It is not merely a design — it is a political statement imposed on a nation.

Independent organizations such as Freedom House consistently rank Iran among the least free countries in the world, while Human Rights Watch has documented widespread human rights abuses, including unlawful detentions, executions, and persecution of dissent. The existing flag is inseparable from this reality.

We therefore call on technology companies to update and rename their digital representations of the Iranian flag to feature the Lion and Sun instead of the Islamic Republic’s emblem. This symbolic shift sends a clear message: the world stands with the Iranian people, not with authoritarian rule.

Change the symbol. Respect the people. Stand on the right side of history.
