Thanks for continuing to share!

Today, I read about Western Michigan’s commitment to the children of Kalamazoo and the Kalamazoo promise and to Detroit students.

Read more here: WMU becomes ‘official educational partner’ of the Detroit Lions - mlive.com.

The Kalamazoo Promise: https://www.kalamazoopromise.com/

I also know about the Peoria Promise: https://www.peoriapromise.org/

These are not the same as what our petition is demanding: an investment in K-8 students in District 65, Evanston/Skokie now. Still, they show a deep commitment (and yes, there is a still a private-public agreement here) to children of a community.

I also learned this from a simple Google/Gemini search.  Yes, Chicago Public School (CPS) students have a guaranteed pathway to certain Chicago universities, see here:

This is primarily through the Early College Programs offered by some of the city’s universities. These programs allow eligible CPS high school students to take college courses while still in high school, often at no cost. Upon graduation, these students are typically granted automatic admission to the university where they participated in the program.

Note: The specific requirements and benefits of Early College Programs can vary by university. You must check with the universities you are interested in for the most accurate information.

Some examples of Chicago universities with Early College Programs:

University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)
DePaul University
Loyola University Chicago
Northeastern Illinois University

More to come.
