Increase Undergraduate Membership on the Task Force

Increase Undergraduate Membership on the Task Force
The Issue
Background: The university is currently writing a monumental report that describes the state of our school. The content of this report ranges from advising, quarter vs semesters, mental health, faculty instruction effectiveness, etc--issues that we all care about as students. Ultimately, the report is taken up to the provost and the board of trustees as recommendations of action items for the upcoming years. The report will serve as a blueprint of our school for the upcoming decades. The group of people who get together to write this report is called the Task Force. It currently contains twelve faculty/department chairs, six admins, one grad student and one undergraduate student.
Issue: While the aim of the report is to answer questions about undergraduates and to enhance the undergraduate experience, somehow they only have one undergraduate representative. The Task Force for the last report (1988) had five student representatives. We've had multiple conversations with admins in the past three weeks about our representation, and ultimately they are not willing to increase undergraduate student membership on the Task Force. Our tuition makes up most of the university's revenue, and yet they're actively choosing to block out student input in deciding the future of our education. If we pay, we should have a say.
