Protect the Long-Term Future of the Northwest Atlanta and Bankhead Community
For generations, residents of Northwest Atlanta and the Bankhead community have lived through disinvestment, limited access to quality retail, inadequate economic opportunities, and development decisions that have too often been made without meaningful community input.

Now, once again, our community is being asked to carry the weight of a major land-use decision that could shape the future of the Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway corridor for generations.

The proposed use of the property at 1060 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway as a large-scale homeless services hub raises serious concerns for residents, community advocates, families, and stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to encourage responsible growth and revitalization in Northwest Atlanta.

We believe in helping people.

We believe individuals and families experiencing homelessness deserve dignity, compassion, safe shelter, and access to meaningful services.

But compassion and responsible community planning must exist together.

Northwest Atlanta should not be expected to continually absorb concentrated social services and regional challenges while still waiting for the grocery stores, quality retail, employment opportunities, mixed-income development, family resources, and long-term economic investment our community has requested for decades.

This is not a rejection of people experiencing homelessness.

This is a call for balance, fairness, responsible planning, and community inclusion.

A development of this magnitude should not move forward without fully examining its long-term impact on surrounding residents, small businesses, future investment, transportation, public safety resources, infrastructure, and the overall economic future of the Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway corridor.

The residents of Northwest Atlanta and Bankhead deserve the same planning and economic consideration afforded to growing communities throughout the City of Atlanta.

WE ARE CALLING ON THE CITY OF ATLANTA TO:
Require meaningful and transparent community engagement before supporting major land-use decisions that will permanently impact the Northwest Atlanta and Bankhead community.
Oppose the concentration of a large-scale homeless services hub at 1060 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway without a comprehensive and publicly presented community impact and economic development plan.
Pursue a balanced approach to homelessness and supportive services that does not disproportionately concentrate regional services within historically underserved communities.
Prioritize responsible mixed-use development, neighborhood-serving retail, a full-service grocery store, employment opportunities, walkable amenities, and long-term commercial investment along the Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway corridor.
Include Northwest Atlanta and Bankhead residents, neighborhood leaders, small businesses, and community organizations as active participants in decisions concerning the future of this corridor.
Present a clear long-term economic development strategy for Northwest Atlanta that demonstrates how the City will attract investment while protecting existing residents and strengthening the community.
WE ARE NOT ASKING ATLANTA TO IGNORE HOMELESSNESS.
We are asking Atlanta to stop treating historically underserved communities as the automatic location for concentrated regional burdens.

Northwest Atlanta is a community of families, homeowners, renters, seniors, children, small businesses, churches, community advocates, and residents who have remained committed to this area through decades of change.

We have waited.

We have participated.

We have attended meetings.

We have cleaned our communities.

We have organized.

We have invested our own time, labor, and resources.

Now we are asking to be heard.

Development should strengthen a community — not simply place another burden upon it.

The future of Northwest Atlanta and Bankhead must include economic opportunity, responsible growth, community investment, and the voices of the people who call this community home.
