Northern Michigan University has had a parking problem for as long as most of us can remember. This year, they admitted more students than the past few years and there are not enough spaces for students to park near the dorms. This can be a safety issue for students, walking in the dark half a mile to their room, if not more. If we were to reopen lot 26, and even half of lot 36, dorm residents would have less to fear when walking home from their cars at night. We do not expect a brand new parking lot, however using what we already have would be quite helpful.
