Allow students in the NUin program the option to switch from P/F to a graded system.

The Issue

As students of NUin, when our study abroad plans were canceled due to an unforeseen pandemic, we were left to choose how we would approach the semester academically, and we were left with choices of NUFlex or NUStart. Usually, NUin students would take courses in universities affiliated with Northeastern, and would be considered transfer students which would disclude first semester grades from affecting future undergraduate GPAs. However, this semester we are taking the same courses as our fellow Northeastern admits, and as a result, we were all placed into the same courses as students who were not a part of NUin. In spite of the fact that we are all taking the same coursework, NUin students have been informed that our grades for this semester will have no impact on our future undergraduate GPA. To some this is great news, but to others who have sacrificed time and effort in order to succeed we are frustrated. One point that we want to emphasize is that we would like the administration to not come to a decision that all students must adhere to, but rather set a deadline of sorts for students to choose between including their Fall 2020 semester grades  into their future undergraduate GPA or not due to students having different responses to learning under the stress of a global pandemic. Currently, all students in the NUin program are limited to Pass/Fail for the semester, but we would like to be granted the option to switch from this P/F grading system and substitute it with a graded system which could then be included into our future undergraduate cumulative GPA. Essentially, we ask that NUin students be given the option to count our GPA from the 2020 fall semester for classes that have been offered to both NUin and non NUin students. Thank you.
