Natural England - Remove Consent For Fox Hunts On Long Mynd SSSI!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 2,500!
Despite the violence & wildlife crime that forms an integral part of both the South Shropshire Foxhounds & United Pack, both of these hunts have been granted licences (bit.ly/2F7cNuP) to use Long Mynd, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designated for a range of important plant species, including the carnivorous round-leaved sundew; unfortunately, this site is largely degraded at present, as only 2 of the 46 'units' are considered to be in favourable condition (bit.ly/2Hw24dg). Not only this, but year on year, the National Trust staff at the site have been working on behalf of the hunt by acquiring the consent of Natural England for them to hunt on this important habitat - and Natural England have agreed, year on year!
We're calling on Natural England to permanently revoke their consent for National Trust to allow two fox hunts on to this site before the 2018/19 season.
'The habitats within this site are highly sensitive ... Access to this site, and any recreational activities within, may also need to be controlled.' - Natural England, bit.ly/2FPXFER.
