2020 has been one of the strangest, most uncertain and darkest year experienced by our generation.

I was, like so many other residents of North Lanarkshire, looking forward to some light and cheer that the turning on of the Christmas lights would bring.

In February 2020, North Lanarkshire Council decided to remove the budget for any Christmas lights in our town and village centres.

This decision should be reversed. Please give us some light and hope for the end of the most challenging year for our society. #weneedcheer2020
