Kilbowie Outdoor Centre has been an integral part of the Primary 7 curriculum for North Lanarkshire school children for a great many years and, yet again, the Council appears to be on the brink of suggesting its closure.

As many parts of North Lanarkshire are listed as areas of multiple deprivations, this move would seriously impact on both the physical and mental health of the school children of the area. For many children within North Lanarkshire, Kilbowie offers their only means to have a trip away from home to experience activities that they would not normally have the chance to participate in. This opportunity should not be taken away from these youngsters.

Neil Gray MP and Alex Neil MSP have started this petition on behalf of the people of Airdrie & Shotts to fight this proposal and it will be forwarded to NLC Leader Jim Logue
