The people of Harthill have had ENOUGH. Enough of the cuts to our village. This has most recently resulted in our village losing our Christmas lights. The village owns the lights, however North Lanarkshire council are refusing to put them up due to “high operating costs”.

The people of Harthill are fed up being treated like the outcasts of the council area. The people of Harthill have nothing. The Christmas lights were the only thing our village is afforded by North Lanarkshire. It is especially abhorrent that the council are happy to pay £100mn on renovating Strathclyde Country Park, while they won’t pay the minimum cost to run our rural village’s Christmas lights.

This petition is to show that the people of Harthill will no longer accept being the subject of continued cuts. Our rural village is always the first to face cuts, and our services have been cut substantially, while towns such as Motherwell and Wishaw get investments our village could only dream of. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
