Save Freshney Valley From Destruction

Save Freshney Valley From Destruction
The Issue
Building Proposals....3,800 homes, shops, primary school and relief road - The Grimsby West extension to link Healing, Great Coates and Laceby
A new village which will see 3,800 new homes built, shops, a primary school and a relief road are being proposed to link Healing, Great Coates and Laceby.
M F Strawson Ltd and Sir Richard Sutton's Settled Estates have come up with a draft plan to build from the A46 next to Morrisons supermarket, across to the A1136 roundabout in Great Coates.
If approved, the build would see a huge influx of homes in the area - meeting a third of the North East Lincolnshire Council's projected 9,330 homes needed by 2030.
It also aims to facilitate a park and ride scheme in the area.
The dwellings would be spread across four separate sites, each with their own amenities and style.
Each community is set to be adjacent to the pre-existing villages like Great Coates, Healing and estates such as Wybers Woods.
The project will damage the natural habitat of the Freshney Valley as well as impact on people’s wellbeing who use the area for walks and enjoyment.
The valley is home to Laceby Beck, a chalk stream, which runs into Grimsby and becomes the River Freshney. It is surrounded by woodlands, copses and open fields.
There are public rights of way which are used by people walking and for exercise.
The disruption and building will impact wildlife including breeding otters and water voles as well as add to noise, air and light pollution.
Save this unique place from destruction
