We have to take the confederate statue in Greenville, NC down!

Imagine the worst thing you've done in your lifetime. Now imagine if every time you walked through your town, every time you went to your high school, or even drove down your road, you were reminded of that event.

That is only a fragment of the pain I imagine is experienced on a daily basis due to Confederate statues and monuments. As Americans, how embarrassing is it that we have glorified and idolized these men and objects enough to quite literally put them on a pedestal? The most atrocious and inhumane act of our history is being put on display at roughly 718 locations in the United States, and Greenville, NC is one of them.

The current climate and long overdue initiative being taken for equality and justice is reason enough to remove these belittling reminders of a past to be ashamed of. Help me bring this issue to light and support the removal of any and all Confederate statues, monuments, and memorials.

Sadly there are already 700 people supporting a petition to keep the statue where it is. The fact that someone could even have the audacity to do that just shows the racism in our very own city. We can do way better than 700, let’s make change, POSITIVE CHANGE!
