Governor Cooper is violating the Constitution
The Issue
Governor Cooper's Executive Orders (No.'s 169 and 176) violate both the NC State Constitution and the U.S. Constitution. The Governor has vetoed all attempts by the State Legislature to restrict his tyrannical orders with legislation, so the State Legislature must now present the argument to the State Supreme Court. Within these executive orders, the Governor has restricted your right to assembly, guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and by Article 1, Section 12 of the North Carolina Constitution. These orders make it a class 2 misdemeanor for you to have more than 10 people in your own home or to remove your face covering outside your home. This extreme and tyrannical government overreach by the State’s chief executive must be stopped. Sign this petition asking the other branches of government to stop Governor Cooper with the court system.
