More Exposure For Unwanted Animals

More Exposure For Unwanted Animals
The Issue
Alleghany County is known for their mountains, the Parkway, and Stone Mountain. One thing it isn’t know for is a Humane Society, because we do not have one.
Approximately 7.6 million animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year and 2.7 are euthanized. Only 2.7 million shelter animals are adopted each year.
There are many Humane Societies around Alleghany County, including Watauga, Wilkes, Ashe, Surry, Catawba, and Forsyth.
We want to get help from Watauga, Wilkes, Ashe, Surry, Catawba, Forsyth and other humane societies that surround the county. Since we don’t we have a humane society in Alleghany County, we think it would be sufficient to get help from neighboring counties by supporting our animals that are housed in the animal shelters in Alleghany County, NC. We think that if we get more advertisement, then we can have more animals get better homes.
We also want dog catchers from these surrounding areas to help with the correct movement and placement of the animals. We believe that if we have someone, like a dog catcher, here, they can bring them to the shelter, instead of the animals roaming free.
In Alleghany County, North Carolina there are laws about taking care of your animal and keeping them restrained correctly. Even though the restraints, like keeping them on a rope or chain, may help with safety issues, there are people who abuse this law. Such as tying them to the car and driving away, tying them up and leaving them there without food, water, or shelter, and tying them up in confined spaces.
We believe that even though tying up your animal might be sufficient for keeping people safe and keeping them from attacking or running away, they do not deserve to be neglected and abused just because they are animals. We want justice for animals that cannot fend for themselves. On the alternative use shock collars and fences instead of keeping your animal chained up.
If you are in the Alleghany County area and you find a stray animal, or you can’t take care of it anymore, please contact awos.petfinder.com/shelters/alleghany.html, AlleghanyAnimals@yahoo.com, 336-372-8744, or visit the shelter on 2970 Hwy. 21 North in Sparta, NC 28675.
Please sign this petition so we can get their attention and get our animals some help!
