We’ve just heard of the really sad news that Stepping Stones Nursery in Frettenham is closing down. What a huge loss to the village, especially the children who were there currently or planning to attend there. This nursery provided vital childcare and before and after school services for Frettenham Primary. The children that attended the nursery also benefitted from a smooth transition into school life.

After a long conversation with the nursery this morning, it’s completely out of their control and they are also devastated. They’ve tried everything to stay open, but with covid, staffing shortages and rising rental costs it was impossible. Spixworth have kept places open for all Frettenham children and staff will be relocated.

This is a massive loss to our village, and the repercussions will be felt by many. We need to keep it open! We need the Local Authority to put a short term plan in place to allow the Nursery to recover from the effects of COVID-19. There must be funding to support this and prevent our nursery, and the children that attend it, from falling down as another victim of this awful pandemic.
