Rameer Tawasil, a renowned Zamboanga-based Tau Sug artist, was born in 1969 in Sulu. He dedicated his life to creating art that intricately reflects the complex realities of Mindanao and Sulu. His work has not only contributed significantly to the Philippine art scene but also played an essential role in preserving and promoting our cultural heritage, including efforts in advancing peace and women's rights in his own unique way.

Tawasil's artistry spans decades in the medium of painting, developing techniques that are uniquely his. He is particularly known for his distinctive strokes reminiscent of the curvilinear ukkil of Sulu art. His works have been exhibited locally and internationally, such as in Singapore, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia, garnering admiration for their unique blend of traditional motifs with contemporary themes. His "peace dove" logo received the Peace Citation Award in 2006, becoming a regular part of campaigns for peace worldwide. It forms only one out of numerous awards and recognitions he received.
