Nolan Wells: FBI to Investigate
The Issue
On July 4, 2026, Nolan Wells traveled to Horn Island, Mississippi. He was last seen at approximately 3:30 p.m. that afternoon. Two days later, on July 6, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Nolan was found deceased on Horn Island.
Information concerning Nolan's death has raised serious questions that his family, friends, and members of the public believe deserve further investigation, including reports that Nolan sustained blunt-force injuries.
The Jackson County District Attorney's Office investigated Nolan's death and presented evidence to an impaneled grand jury. Following those proceedings, authorities announced that the grand jury determined that Nolan's death resulted from drowning and that no further local investigation would be conducted.
But for those seeking answers about what happened to Nolan, the investigation should not end there.
Horn Island is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and is federally managed land. Given the location where Nolan was found and the unanswered questions surrounding the circumstances of his death, we are asking federal authorities to independently review the evidence and determine whether a federal investigation is warranted.
This petition calls upon the Federal Bureau of Investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding Nolan Wells's death, including the events leading up to his disappearance, the evidence recovered on Horn Island, the reported injuries, witness information, forensic evidence, and the investigative findings made to date.
The federal government did not lead the original investigation, and, to date, we are not aware of any public statement from the FBI concerning Nolan's death.
I have also contacted the FBI and requested comment regarding the Nolan Wells case.
This petition is not asking anyone to prejudge what happened to Nolan. It is asking for answers. It is asking for transparency. And it is asking for an independent review of the evidence.
Nolan deserves a complete and thorough investigation. His loved ones deserve answers.
