A Basketball Court for Underprivileged Children of Noida

0 have signed. Let’s get to 50,000!

I am Sachin Yadav from Gejha Village Noida, 3 Years ago I started playing Basketball through Dribble Academy Foundation a non profit organisation which works with 1500 Children across 4 Villages of noida and teaches life skills through Basketball. Little did I know that this game would have such a profound impact on my life  After a lot of hard work by my coaches and myself I was selected to represent India at the Junior Nba World Championship in Orlando USA. I had never sat on a flight ever before and this was a lifetime experience where we got to see Disneyland and many NBA Players however my struggle is not over.

I and 500 other children of Gejha village do not have our own Basketball court in the village and hence cannot practice. In the last 3 Years we have played many tournaments across NCR and have won a few and we regularly defeat neighbouring schools in most matches. One of the girls has even got a full scholarship at Shiv Nadar school Noida and one more girl has got a full scholarship through basketball at Moti Lal Nehru school of sports Rai one of the best in India. Our Under 14 Girls team even won the District Championship this year defeating every school in Noida

We have a city park next to us in sector 93-A which is a 12 Acre park with greenery and only one multipurpose gym which is utilised very well however there are no other sports facilities in the park. If 2 Basketball courts can be built in this park over 500 Children will be able to play the game of Basketball from 3 neighbouring villages as well since the park is located centrally. Without the basic infrastructure in place we will not be able to make India proud at the National and International level. If we get this Basketball court we will definitely have more children from these villages playing at a higher level and hopefully one day India's team will qualify for the olympics. Dribble Academy Foundation will continue to provide free basketball training to the children of these villages at the court .

When I went to the Kaun Banega Crorepati show, Amitabh Bachchan said, "children are considered to be the future of the country but what will be the future of the country if it is not the future of the children."

My coach (Pradyut) and I have started this petition so that the Noida Authority will build 2 basketball courts there so that we can play in that park. Sign our petition so that we can get to play Basketball everyday and stay away from petty crimes and drug abuse which is rampant in our villages.
