The Issue

We the undersigned believe that the first Presidency of Donald J. Trump was marked by extraordinary achievements in advancing peace, fostering dialogue, and promoting global stability. At a time when the world continues to face persistent challenges, recognising such contributions is essential. We urge you to add your name to our nomination.

During his tenure, Mr. Trump was instrumental in brokering historic peace agreements, notably with the Abraham Accords and with his engagement of North Korea in unprecedented dialogue, making strides toward nuclear disarmament and taking steps to deescalate tensions in the Korean peninsula.

His 2020 Doha Agreement facilitated U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, demonstrating his commitment to ending the “endless wars.” By eliminating figures like ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and IRGC General Qassem Soleimani, he disrupted global terrorism proportionately, with targeted strikes and deterrence without resorting to prolonged and destabilising interventions. Trump’s vocal support for global democracy underscored his commitment to these ideals. He is the foremost global leader advocating for the release of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, using US soft power to hold regimes to account. He was the first leader to recognise China’s persecution of Uyghurs as a formal genocide exemplified a moral leadership in confronting human rights abuses for which, as yet, he has not received credit.

His stubborn insistence on increased NATO member contributions bolstered the alliance’s collective defense, crucial for addressing global security challenges. Doing so strengthened the European position and, had it happened earlier, might have deterred aggression in Ukraine. His 2020 economic normalization agreement between Serbia and Kosovo advanced peace and regional stability, and together with negotiating for American captives overseas, showed him to be a credible and steadfast negotiator. Finally, the territorial defeat of ISIS during his presidency marked a pivotal moment in combating terrorism. His policy in the region left room for allies to dismantle the regime of Bashar al-Assad, and his direct and tenacious negotiation style, along with diplomatic unpredictability, has focused minds towards negotiated ceasefire in Gaza.

Recognizing Donald Trump with the Nobel Peace Prize would affirm these significant contributions. It would affirm that the free world cherishes victories for freedom, human rights and democracy. It would affirm, ahead of a second Presidency, that Trump’s actions and successes for peace are appreciated and fairly judged.

I invite you to lend your voice to this nomination, amplifying the call to honour leadership that seeks to resolve conflicts and promote peace.
