No Votes for Oregon Democrats Without a Call for Ceasefire

The Issue

We the undersigned are either registered Democratic voters or voters who have reliably voted Democrat in the past - but no more.

We have watched our party leaders and federal elected officials remain silent as the deal toll in Palestine reaches 10,000. The horrors unfolding on our television and phone screens are unfathomable and sickening - and we are paying for it with our tax dollars.

Our signatures on this petition signal our commitment to only vote for candidates who make calling a ceasefire in Palestine part of their campaign platform. With 80% of Democratic voters supporting a ceasefire, politicians who refuse to do so are doing so with the full knowledge that they are not supporting the desires and interests of their constituents - for this, we are entitled to hold them accountable.

We will actively, loudly, and passionately campaign against any candidate running for federal office who refuses to call a ceasefire. We will disrupt campaign events, town halls, fundraisers, and Democratic party meetings.

Our loyalty is not to the National Democratic Party or the Oregon Democratic Party, but to the values we hold - ones that our state party purports to hold in their current platform. We are anti-genocide (Article 4; Plank 4) and pro-human rights (Article 4; Planks 1, 10, 24, 25). We support the decreasing of the military budget (Article 4; Plank 20), not the increasing of power to the executive branch to send foreign military aid without Congressional approval. We believe civilians should be protected from war and military aggression (Article 4; Planks 2, 21, 26).

Our signatures on this petition are a signal to Oregon's Democratic Party leadership and our federal elected officials that their silence on this issue will cost them on Election Day.
