No to Rezoning Nobscot

No to Rezoning Nobscot
The Issue
Whereas:
Developers owning approximately 27 acres of land in the Nobscot area petitioned the City Council last year to rezone that land to permit commercial and/or high-density residential development. Those developers continue to promote plans with as many hundreds of residential units and 30,000 sq. feet of retail space on their website: www.nobscotvillage.com
Whereas:
There are numerous reasons why rezoning of this land should not be allowed, as detailed in a petition to the City Council in October 2022 (posted on www.futureofnobscot.org)
Whereas:
At the City Council meeting of September 26, 2023, the Framingham Mayor was asked questions about the status of the proposed project following his meeting with the developers. An analysis of the Mayor’s responses to those questions,(available on video and detailed in a letter to the Mayor dated October 22, 2023 and posted on futureofnobscot.org) suggests that he somehow remains unaware of the breadth and depth of his constituents’ opposition to rezoning that would allow a massive project in a low density neighborhood less than a mile from his own home. It is unconscionable for any elected City official to disrespect the widely expressed wishes and expectations of constituents whose interests they are sworn to protect.
Therefore:
The undersigned residents of the Nobscot area and Framingham register their displeasure with the Mayor’s inexplicable lack of understanding of such an important issue. We strongly encourage the Mayor and the City Council to align their positions with that of the hundreds of Nobscot area constituents who already, and will continue, to oppose rezoning this land.
