No to Haircut Policy

The Issue

Haircuts, is it simply "just" cutting hair? Haircut Policies are widely implemented worldwide. It can be from schools to companies. Specifically, my main focus is about haircut policies in schools. You might ask why am I against the haircut policy. Well, in my own opinion, I see the Haircut Policy as impractical, insensitive, and unrelated. Students are mostly affected by this policy.

Why do I say that the Haircut Policy is impractical? Well for starters, students are mostly affected by this. It requires them to go to barbershops and of course pay the barber. Financially, it is not applicable for everyone because haircuts nowadays are expensive ranging from 100 - 200 pesos per haircut. My argument is that, students can use their money on more important things like saving their money, buying food, or buying school supplies instead of spending their allowance on a haircut. For the second one, how can I say that the Haircut Policy is insensitive? For some students, their hair holds value, value that they hold dear. Imagine spending years taking care of your hair and then they just told you to cut it? Some students get their confidence from their hair, so cutting it may lead to lower self esteem and a lot more mental problems. For the last one, how is the Haircut Policy unrelated? Well, how does cutting your hair help in academics? It doesn't right. It's only for looking "neat".

So, to summarize my argument. I am against the Haircut Policy as it does not bring any benefits to all students. Forcibly cutting a student's hair can cause them to have mental problems like depression. Haircuts are also not for everyone, because haircut nowadays are expensive and the money that students use for haircuts can be used for better reasons. So, sign now!
