In 2018 Mr. Morgan was arrested with a group of people on the grounds of promoting prostitution. He was released on bail. COVID happened. The case was delayed. He pled GUILTY. He was to be sentenced to 10 months (city time). This year alone 12 individuals died in Rikers Island. Hundreds of Correction Officers walked away from their pension paying jobs. Rikers Island has below standard housing conditions. It has been at the heart of many advocates to see Rikers Island closed permanently. There are other means of serving jail sentences without being incarcerated. I ask that you sign this petition so that Mr. Morgan gets an alternative to Incarceration sentence. This was his first arrest ever. He has never had a Felony conviction. He raises his 1 1/2 year old daughter alone. During the Pandemic he earned his NYS certification in Medical Billing. We need signatures to present to the Judge presiding over his case scheduled for September 2022.
