No reason to increase the size of Burrows Park

No reason to increase the size of Burrows Park
The issue
Friends of the Burrows Park playing field, I am already at capacity in terms of how much footy I can handle, and an increase in size will make no impact on the capacity to take more of our kids.
Yes, we support the council's initiative to upgrade the facilities, but we don't need an international football field upgrade when adult international games are played on smaller fields around the world. Our Money is best spent on looking after the children's facilities.

**Letter to Randwick Council**
Attention all Randwick Councillors
We refer to the Director City services Report No. CS55/23 referring to Burrows Park -Community Consultation outcomes tabled for Councils 28th November2023 Meeting.
Our understanding is that this report by its very subject heading should reflect Community Consultation outcomes. We wish to make it clear in a short summary that this was by no means the case and that the consultation process and final report, not only lacked proper independent probity but probity was non-existent.
Summary
- The 77-page Report was released to the community on the 22nd of November only 3 working Days before the Council meets to decide an outcome. This is by no means a fair and reasonable exhibition period for both ratepayers and their nominated Councillors to review and make appropriate assessment.
- The Report conveniently omits two community town Hall meetings held with Council officers, local community and sporting representatives in attendance. The Report also omits the factual outcomes of that meeting, vis-à-vis that there is no logical, administrative, legal or practical advantage to extending the size of the Football field at Burrows Park.
- The biased and misrepresenting survey question “4.1.3. Question: How supportive are you of Council undertaking design work to determine the feasibility, cost and impact of extending the sports field to enable kids older than 13- years to play on the ground?” that Council officers have misleadingly represented that children over 13 years of age cannot play on the field at this time. This has been proven on several occasions to Council Officers verbally and in writing to be totally incorrect.
Therefore, there should be no logical reason to change the physical geography of Burrows Park.
Recommendation
The community support all four recommendations with the following change to recommendation a);
From:
Council officers proceed to develop a masterplan of Burrows Park to explore its configuration with a larger sports field and upgraded amenities building, and the associated impacts.
