No Proposed Parking Lot on Woodside Terrace

The Issue

The developers in Rough Hollow have a plan in place to put a proposed parking lot in at the trailhead on Woodside Terrace and Prosecco. The residents of the Lakeside neighborhood, and surrounding communities, have a number of concerns with the safety, increased traffic, and devaluation of our homes should a parking lot, accessible to the public, be installed in our neighborhood.

First and foremost, this is a major safety concern. We are a neighborhood of 175 homes and families, the majority of which have several young children. On Woodside Terrace and Prosecco alone, there are roughly 45+ school-aged children, and several pre-schoolers and toddlers who often use this space to play. Our neighborhood is safe, and our children now have the ability to ride bikes and scooters in the street, play in the open space, and play games and sports in the driveways adjacent to the trailhead. A parking lot there will be a serious risk to the safety of these children, and will be a hazardous change in lifestyle in Lakeside.

This particular spot on the street is also currently the bus stop for many children in the neighborhood, many of whom are elementary school children. There is absolutely no need to add additional traffic, cars backing up who may not see children on a narrow street, and congestion in the neighborhood in the spot our children use to both play and get to and from school.

The diminished privacy, increase in noise, trash, and traffic create a very undesirable effect on the neighborhood, creating a concrete eyesore which was once designated a "trailhead," and will devalue property.

In addition, there is no need for further parking spots in the community. Spots are available at the mailboxes on Peninsula Way, as well as at the corner of Peninsula and Woodside, just a short walk to the trails.

As a community we must stand against the hazardous addition of this parking lot. Several residents representing the community have scheduled an initial meeting with the developer on Friday, November 20 to discuss the our collective concern. We need your signatures NOW. Further action may be needed after that point, but this petition serves as a signal to the developers that this lot is widely opposed in the neighborhood, and a small group of people have stepped up to represent the interests of the community as a whole.

Thank you!
