The Issue
Palantir: a Florida-based tech company that is “secretly changing the face of warfare”*, is coming for the NHS and patient data.
Primarily involved in AI systems that have helped ICE, the UK police, and Israeli warfare, Technologies of surveillance are deeply embedded in Palantir’s operations. Peter Thiel, the CEO of Palantir has openly criticised the NHS for being part of a welfare state that is free for all. Thiel initially worked with the NHS as part of its contact tracing programme during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paved the way for NHS England signing for a mandatory roll-out of Palantir’s “Federated Data Platform" (FDP) in 2023. However, since announcing the dismantling of NHS England in 2025, individual NHS trusts are no longer legally required to do this. In Manchester, the NHS trusts decided to keep their FDP in-house.
Palantir’s software is being “used in war on Gaza and the targeting of Palestinians with particular characteristics.”... “We do work in Israel. We’re proud of the work that we do there. We have provided the Israelis with support since October 7, but also our work there predates those events.”**
Peter Thiel is closely associated with Jeffery Epstein and Peter Mandelson. He is part of the circles of corruption that are rapidly coming to light in the UK and the US.***
Palantir is due to take over FDPs in Kent, both in the community and in hospitals, confirmed by recent Freedom of Information Act (FOI requests).
The Kent and Medway Integrated care board (ICB) plan to use Palantir’s “Strategic Commissioning Module” which will use vast collectives of patient data to make decisions about which services to keep and which services to privatise and which to cut out of our NHS.
East Kent Hospitals plan to use Palantir's “Cancer 360” software which Palantir will use the data of our vulnerable cancer patients in Kent.
Data is pseudoanonymised but data is data. Big data has a value and is already used by many tech companies as a source of revenue.
Private tech companies already have contracts with the NHS, but Manchester’s action to keep their data systems in house demonstrates that data systems don’t have to be sold off to the private sector. Ultimately, the drive for profit within these firms will make them more expensive to the tax payer in the long-term.
Keep data systems in house. Keep Palantir out of Kent.
