TODAY: Commissioners Charlie Riley and James Noack want to hear from you! They need to know where you think they should to focus their efforts on transportation and mobility. (Judge Craig Doyal also plays a role in how projects are prioritized in how money is spent Montgomery County.) Please take the time to send a quick e-mail. Decisions are being made in the next several days that determine if/how this project moves forward. Don't let the chance slip away. Let them know about your common sense opposition to this project.
You can send a single e-mail to all three County officials, at once, or you may choose to send them separately.
E-mail addresses:
- Commissioner Charlie Riley: charlie.riley@mctx.org
- Commissioner James Noack: evan.besong@mctx.org
- Judge Craig Doyal: james.fredricks@mctx.org
(E-mails are often directed to Chiefs of Staff, see above.)
An example e-mail:
Dear Commissioner _________________:
I am opposed to an underpass (or an overpass) at the Research Forest and Grogan's Mill intersection. Please fix the traffic at Research Forest and I-45, first. The cost of $24 millions dollars for just one intersection is too expensive for a traffic improvement of about 20 seconds. That's about $1 million dollars per second saved. The impact to the environment and the risks of flooding make this project a bad idea, as proposed. This area is not known to flood. Current studies by Brown and Gay Engineers show flooding will be expected at least twice per year. Does this make sense to introduce the likelihood of flooding into an area that doesn't really have that problem? Perhaps, an easier solution, such as right-hand turn lanes will help with the problem? Please look for less expensive and less radical changes to this area. A set of public hearings should be held for public feedback on such a large project.
Sincerely,
